Relationship Between Holland's Theory of Career choice and You!!!

Assalammualaikum everybody!! How are you feeling right now? Here, I wanna share with you all the information about "How we can relate our personality with Holland's theory of Career Choice". The Career Key is based on John Holland's theory of vocational choice. At its simplest, this theory proposes that "Birds of the same feather flock together." In other words, people like to be around others who have similar personalities. In choosing a career, it means that people choose jobs where they can be around other people who are like them. Our personality normally determine what types of job that suitable with us. There are 6 characteristics of work environments include Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. For example, to be a teacher we need Social characteristics of personality. It is same like people who are in Enterprising are more tend to become an accountant or bussiness people.

It is used by most career counselors. Understanding the Holland's Theory of Career Choice will help you make sense of your Career Key scores and how you relate to job success and satisfaction. People who choose to work in an environment similar to their personality type are more likely to be successful and satisfied:For example, Artistic persons are more likely to be successful and satisfied if they choose a job that has an Artistic environment, like choosing to be a dance teacher in a dancing school -- an environment "dominated" by Artistic type people where creative abilities and expression are highly valued.

Is it Networking Helpful in A Career?

The answer is exactly. For me,networking can be very helpful to our career. It is important that we should develop a network of friendly people who share information to help each other. It is best known as a strategy for opening the hidden job market, for getting a good job. Since many jobs (some would say most) are not advertised, it is essential that we develop friendly relationships with people who can tip us off to job openings - perhaps even introduce us to the person who is doing the hiring. There is some truth in, "It's not what you know, but who you know".

In my own experiences, if we realize nowadays, there are a lot of people who can have good job even they have no good credentials and some of them are not qualified with the job. But, by having good networking with people around them, they grabbed the opportunity which in fact, they are not supposedly to get it. All of this may leads to the unemployment among graduated students even they have good CGPA and many certification. I feel that it is unfair for me, as a future graduated student if this situation still not change. So,start from now I want to suggest to all my friends to develop wider networking with friends, family, lecturers, teachers, and also important person in the society. Believe it,we will get an advantages for that.

There are some benefits that we will get from have a networking.
1) We are creating a community of people who support each other, who provide
emotional support and information that will help each other.
2) We will learn about the new developments in our field: new tools, processes,
leaders,training programs, products and services.
3) We may discover the solution to a problem you face at work.
4) We may have the satisfaction of providing the key piece of information that
makes a real difference in the life of one of those in our network.

As a definition, networking is a planned, and ongoing effort. It is happened when we set goals, develop strategies for achieving them, take action, evaluate how well our plan is working, and make changes as necessary. Meaning that, networking also is a process.

So, how do you think???

How To Find A Job You'll Enjoy...

Assalammualaikum wbt..

Hye everybody...How are you right now? Are you fasting today?:-) Since we are fasting today, I still keep in writing something in this blog to avoid me from waste the time. I have nothing to do right now so while waiting to help my mother preparing the dishes, I want to share with you about how to find a job that you'll enjoy by assessing your interests which can help you plan your career.

Do you want to have the job you enjoy? Well, examining your interests may be the key. Because if you like what you do,you will be happier at work. And also, you may be more sucessful too. In some cases the choice is obvious where as people who like to write become writers, those who like to work on their car often become mechanics and also people who like to teach will proceed their interest by working as a teacher. But, for some of us is not that easy.

How can you know which job you'll enjoy?
One way is to find a job that is in tune with your interests. You can do that by going through some self-assessment or using a career exploration tool like the Strong Interest Inventory. But if you are not ready to take an assessment, you can begin with self-assessment exercise. For example, people generally prefer to work either with ideas, people, or things. the task is discovering your preferred area.

Ideas – You are a curious and independent person interested in exploring new ideas and using your creativity. People who prefer to focus on ideas may thrive on the analytic challenges of fields such as science or medicine, or artistic pursuits such as writing or interior design. While different in many respects, all of these careers require curiosity and creativity.

People – You are a sociable, friendly person who likes to use their communication skills, to guide and help others. Those who prefer to focus on people often find satisfaction in helping occupations such as counseling, coaching or teaching, or in persuasive professions such as politics or sales. All offer the opportunity to influence and guide others. All require spending your day working with people.

Things (includes Data) – You are an orderly, practical, persistent person who enjoys working with your hands and prefers clearly defined tasks. People who prefer to focus on things may be content working in a hands-on environment like mechanics or farming or computers, or using their math abilities as a bookkeeper, financial analyst or banker. These careers share a focus on things. There is, generally, not much interaction with others.

Most of us fit into more than one category. Many jobs are suited to those with a less clearly defined preference. For example, chefs are creative people who have a very hands-on job. So are landscape architects. A police artist uses their artistic talent within clearly defined boundaries. Bank tellers need to be careful and conscientious. But they also need to deal with people.

Career Counselor?

Salam.. I have an experience to share with all of you..I hope you can give comment and respond about this experience.
In form 4 & 5, I was a Science student and also took accounting. About one year i studied, i make decision to change course from science to literature class. So, I choose to meet with my school counselor for asking him about how to change the course. But it is really dissappointed me, I got nothing although i meet with counselor but he refers me to another teacher. And I think all of You know what was happened, they give me an advice to stay with that course and it's like to force me. So my SPM is not in good result and I failed to get "credit" for science subject including Biology, chemistry and physic. And I don't have any chance to further study in IPTA .
And when the counselor ask me about my ambition, I said I want to be a stewardess. He doesn't give me any information about that career but said bad thing about it. "you want to be a stewardess??ooh, it is not good" So, do you really think a counselor should give that opinion???

I'M CONFUSED!!!

Salam to all…I just want to reflect about “self concept”. From my understanding, each person has their own self-concept because we are unique. that we are different and our self-concept also different. Based on our previous class, Dr said that self-concept can determine by three things. Firstly what people say to you about yourself. Second, our objective accomplishment and lastly what you tell about yourself. Actually I want you to help me that I quite confused is that our self concept is determine by three of this or only one. Meaning that for example, Mira thinks his self-concept is more determine by what people say about herself. So her self-concept is based on opinion of people about herself? Is that like that? Please help me!!!TQ

salam to you all:)

If you think you can, you will
If you think you can’t, you won’t
If you think you are beaten, you are!
Hai my dear friendz.Do you think this proverb is useful to us as a students and as a future counselor? For me,it is very useful. Actually I always use this proverb in my life.Let’s me share my experience regarding of this. Actually when I was in primary and secondary school I’m is the person that don’t have confident towards myself. Everything that I did, I assume it difficult and my mentality is I can’t do it.So that the implications of this I do not have many friends and my performance at school is not good especially in math and English subject. Also,I have a problem with too shy..One day, I read this proverb in one book that I borrow from my friends .When I read it, I realize that I have to wake up and change my all negative attitudes. Actually to be honest with you all change is not easy like we think. First time,I felt too difficult when I want to change. It takes time.Experiences teach me a lot…meaning that “Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm”.Don’t you think so?When I’m in matric,my result is not good and I failed EPT..For me when I failed I try to become positive and not feel down. All of these experiences mekes me now. Now,alhamdullilah I always think positive and trust myself that I can do it.Support from my family and my best friends also important for me.Without them,I don’t know what will happen for me. So my advice to you all is you all have to think positive and don’t say “I CAN’T DO”.Also, this proverb is very useful when we be a counselor in the future.Try to think that you can handle your clients and guide them to the right path..TQ

life same as career?

This is very interesting title. For me, my goal of life is to be succes and owned good job, house, car and happy family. So it doesn't matter what ever job I do as long as it is good for me and I have enough money to get all that I dream of. From I was child my dream job always change. So I don't think career is same as life.

Is Life the Same as Career?

Assalaam alaikum.

I came across an interesting discussion on the positive club forum.

Here's the link.

MUM, WHY THERE ARE SO MUCH BUBBLES INSIDE THE BREAD?

When Super talked about curiosity as one of elements for the career development of children, I’m do asking myself, do I one of person who curious enough when I’m still child about 10 to 17 years ago? Yes, I am. Super said that curiosity is the basic drive in children, so do I. but I still remember that while I still child, my brothers and sisters, also my parents sometimes scolded me because of too many questions that I’m asking so many questions about new things or new knowledge that I found that I not understand. One of the questions that I can’t forget when I asking my mum while I’m child, “Mum, why there are so much bubbles (small empty holes) inside the bread?” then my mum said with anger “just eat! If you are not eating it, then the bubbles will come out.” I still remember it. Then, after been scolded, I ate the bread but started felt sad, sulk, and segregating myself from others and thought that my habit to ask so many questions is wrong act and felt that I’m not suppose to do. They always scolded me when I’m started asking them the third or fourth question on the same things for further and deeper. But, after my mood be well, I still do it again and being scolded by them. Hehe…

If I relate my experience to the Super notion of curiosity, I find that it normal when I’m child to ask so many questions for the new things or knowledge that I begin to know, that prove that I am the normal child who curious and that curiosity imply that I’m in process gathering the information of my career development. How fantastic rite?

So, for those who have younger brothers or sisters who have this habits of asking so many questions, let them be!! We need to bear in mind that it a part of process for them to know more and more information about the world generally and for develop their career development in the future specifically! In my opinion, if we cut or burn out child spirit while they are flaming up to know all things around them so many time, it can effect their inner values then they know longer interesting to know all the new things and then hinder the normal process of children mind development. For my family, I accept for their anger when I child for my asking habit : -). They do not know about the super’s notion.hehe. if they do, may be they are not do it. So, how about you? Do you curious enough when you are child?

TQ:-)

So that they will know how to answer an appropriate answer and make sure a right attire. Image is important.

ASSALAMUALAIKUM.

First of all, I want to thank a lot to DR Siraje because invite me to join this blog. I hope I will get something that meaningful from this blog. I just want to share something simple and we already experience it in our life. WHAT IS IT? AMBITION???
I want to share about my ambition from my childhood. When I am 7years old, I want to be a stewardess. I did not really know this job but I am influence by my friends. Then, I want to be a teacher. I want to educate someone and then they will be better in his future especially the one from rural area. Next, I want to be a doctor. I want to treat my parents and my family by my own. Later, I change my ambition to be a lecturer but I did not specify in any field. I think that I will get higher income compare to a teacher. During my English class, my teacher ask one by one my classmate about our ambition. When it come to my turn, she wants me to specify my ambition. Then, I said that I want to be a lecturer(aerospace). She said that it is good especially for a women. One day, I am realize about onething. I am always change my ambition and I should make a decision. I notice that I love the field of education more than the others. My father said that I must spend enough time with my family and he suggest me to be in education field. As a result, I am join B.Ed (GUIDANCE & CUONSELING) . I hope that I will make something meaningful for me and people arounds.

SOME TIPS FOR SUCCESS IN INTERVIEWS...

Having interviews is not an easy like we click the finger. Many of us being nervous and worried during the interview session. But, never mind. All those things can be solve and overcome when we put all our strength and be confident of what will be questions to us. We will be judged by the way we dress, the way we behave at the interview, the way we communicate our ideas, our educational qualification, work experience, our ability to absorb the information and interpret it intelligently and clearly. Therefore, take care to be at our best.

The first impression is the best impression.

1) Carry all your relevant documents – like academic certificates, references and testimonials, copy of application form, updated resume – in a clear folder so that these can be easily shown and seen when asked.

2) Never be late for an interview. Always be present at the interview venue at least 20 minutes before the interview. This could help you to compose yourself and feel relaxed before the interview.

3) Greet the interview panel as soon as you enter the meeting room. Take your seat only when you are asked to do so. Don’t pull or drag the chair. Lift it or move it gently and always enter from the right side of the chair.

4) Always be polite and say ‘please’ and ‘thank you` whenever required.

5) Listen attentively to the questions asked. If you feel a question is unclear, ask politely for clarification. Don’t beat about the bush, but get directly to the point. Discuss only the relevant facts needed to respond to the question. Be truthful and try not to open yourself to areas of questioning that could pose difficulties for you. In this regard, we recommend that you do take some time to think through your answers/responses to some common interview questions. Taking that time to formulate your answers and solidify your thoughts will give you more poise and security during the actual interview.

6) While answering questions, look directly at the person asking the questions and try to be pleasant. Reply confidently and immediately to the point. Keep your answers brief unless asked for a longer description or explanation. It is better to admit if you don’t know something.

7) Don’t forget to say `Thank you` at the end of an interview to the panel of interviewers before leaving the room.

8) Walk out with confidence and without looking back.

9) Close the door gently behind you as you leave. Don’t bang the door!

HoW Do We ChooSe ThE RiGht CareEr?

Choosing a career is an involved process that is based on a number things, including your interests, skills, work-related value, and personality. To helps us in deciding what kind of career that is suitable for us, we might have consultation from career development professional. e.g: career couselor or career development facilitator. A career development professional will use various tools to help us evaluate our interests, personality, skills, and values. This is called self-assessment. After the evaluation, we should end up with provide a list of suitable careers based on our self-assessment. But we still can't do anything until we need to do some research. Where as, we should begin to gather information about these careers which will include a job description, outlook for the field (will you be able to find a job) and required training and education. Here is a few tips which we can use it a bit in order to choose the right career.

Ahlan Wasahlan....Nice to Meet You all!!!!

I expect after complete my study, I want to work so that from now I need to collect all information that related to the career choices. I need to grab the opportunity. A lot of information I've got from this class including how to plan our life, how to get good job/career, how to prepared ourselves in getting such career and also undestanding the world of work. For instance, I had learned what types of personality and skills that we should have in terms of getting job which match with our interests, skills, and knowledge. In job search and career development, they are usually advertise what skills are needed to being sucessful in a job. And of course, job skills are an important component of a good job match. For all my fellow friends, thank you for your full support and encouragement. Wassalam.

regarding to quraisha wonders...=)

actually what i've given told by friends..the internet job how they are given a money is using the bank account. u'll get the money from that but for me personally, i do not believe in this such way of job. for me it is too risky an not certainty. for me, i tend to do a job that we can see in physically not in the cyber arena. for ur qs either we as a future counselor it is ok to promote that kind of job to our students??it is depends actually, for the students who like exploration and try something that are interesting to her/him that is very welcome to involve but they must know how to differentiate the study and work then know how to use the technology know how very well, the most important is able to manage their time....so, that's all from me...salam

hi everyone..

i would like to share with u guys about our topic for the previous class which is Self-Concept. In my opinion, self concept is how u understand urself. it including ur social character or abilities, ur physical appearance which is called body image and ur thinking.

your self-concept can change because u can see and understand things differently depending on ur feelings, beliefs and attitude. self awareness is a two-way process as ur feelings and beliefs affect ur self-concept.

so, i think everyone's self-concept is unique and differs from others... any comment? (*_*)

happy ramadhan month..lets muhasabah,..

SAYA MENYAMPAIKAN

Pesanan terbaik dari seorang rakan.... Assalamualaikum, Just wanna share with everyone kisah benar yang saya lalui. Iqra'.....! Take a break…….meditate…3 minutes & calm your mind…
Recite 3x : 1. Katakanlah (wahai Muhammad); ' (Tuhanku) ialah Allah Yang Maha Esa;
2. 'Allah Yang menjadi tumpuan sekelian makhluk untuk memohon sebarang hajat;
3. 'Ia tidak beranak, dan Ia pula tidak diperanakkan;
4. 'Dan tidak ada sesiapa pun yang setara dengan-Nya'.

women' cannot work? is it still relevan nowadays? i think what u said is true, it is difficult to find women in malaysia that is not working, from my obeservation the factors that contribute to these is that the "taraf hidup" that increased throughout the year, parents must to strive for their better life to comfort their children and helping the husband to lighten the burden of their husband. Before this,in Malaysia itself people not allows and not encourage women to work but due to the globalization era nowadays they are no more such things. many women out there are freedomly and independently being a career women. Eventhough they are freely to be a career women but they still got to undertsand their roles and always must to take care of their own dignity, parents and husband dignity also, i think there are no problems if women works as long as they know how to take care of theirself.......have a nice weekend and enjoy ur life=)

IMPORTANT JOBS NOWADAYS

nowadays what career are highly need and why? as we now there are a alot of career choice that we can choose in the future depending our capacities and interest, but i always think that what is the most critical job opportunities that we really needed. if we read the star for example, most of the job vacancies is from engineering area means like engineer and technology area like programmer and so on, but i've heard that actually we are lacking a person with high quality skills such as tailor, chef and any other skills, is it true? and i just want to know all of your opinions regarding to this statements. hope we can share our knowledge and expand it together...smile always...=)

“WORK IS IMPORTANT TO ORGANIZE PEOPLE LIFE”

I agree with this statement. How about you all???I agree because when people work their time is organized.Compared when they do not work such as teenagers or “penganggur” their time and life is not organized well. They spent their time with done something wasting their time. Not all but for some people.I imagine myself,If I working maybe my time will fulfill with counseling activities.I have to make sure that my behaviors and my attitudes consistent with my career that be a counselor.Maybe at that time the percent that I wasting my time is decreased.I realize that now,my life is not organized well.Eventhough I have many assignments,I still can go to window shopping, wasting my time with chit-chat and many more.So the impact is I always did my assignments in the last minute. I hope that when I work, my life will organize and I have a good life.

TRAIT AND FACTOR THEORY...

Hello my friends…I just want to share what I’m understood about the Trait and Factor theory. Sometimes this question always arises on my mind..Is that important that if we want to understand about career development, we must learn about theory???What is your opinion guys? Let’s me share with u all what I understand about Trait and Factor Theory. Based on my reading trait refers to a characteristic of an individual that can be measured through testing. For example, if we want to be a teacher, we have to do some tests to make sure that our attitudes consistent with our capability. Meanwhile factor refers to characteristic required for successful job performance. So that when we combine the two terms it means assessment of characteristics of the person and the job.In this theory, said that if we want to find occupation, firstly that we have to do is we have to understand about ourself first.Meaning that our attitudes, our abilities, interests, ambitions, resources limitations and causes. For instance,if we looking for a job,for example, our interest is to be a doctor. After that we have to analyze that is that we capable to be a doctor? We understand ourselves first.Second when we want to looking for a job,we must have the knowledge abiut the requirements and conditions of success, advantages and disadvantages, compensation and so on.Next, the last stage that we combine of the first and second stage. If we do like that based on this theory we will success in ourlives and we will found that we choose a right job.My friends, if my explanation is wrong, please correct me ok!!

women cannot work?

Women cannot work???
Based on previous class, dr.siraje said about in Saudi Arabia, women cannot working because it is something violate the husband’s maruah.Do you think nowadays have a people think like that???In my opinion, this perception is not exist more.Maybe women have to work because to support family. If we only depends on husband to work it is not enough..Are you agree with me???In the future,if I want to get married the conditions that my future husband have to fulfill is he must allow me to work eventhough I have a children. It is because for some reasons.Actually,I’m is the person that berfikiran jauh..We do not know our life in the future right? So that I want to work.Actually, regarding this problems I want to share with you all my cousin’s experience. She is divorce now..Before she get married, she work as a secretery in one popular hotel in KualaLumpur. After she got married, her husband ask her to resign from her work because of she has to take care about her children. So,my cousin resign from her work and be a full time housewife. At that time, her husband just work as a clerk. After a few years,my cousin and her husband got a problems and she divorced. You can imagine now,her husband married with other women and he ignored his children and his wife. Now,my cousin tries to find job as a secretary to accommodate her children but her application was rejected.I don’t know why..So my suggestions to her is try to get a any job and not too choosy. The conclusion is as a women we have to work eventhough we are married because we do not know our future..how about you all??

Dear sis aisyah

I have some opinion regarding to your shyness problems. What you can do is actually you should remove your feeling of shyness that are deeply in yourself. One of the ways that you can do is actually by doing positive self-talk. I have found that research done by Center of Effective Parenting says that Positive self‑talk is saying positive things about one's self to one's self. Positive self‑talk is a very powerful tool for us to have in our daily life. The more we repeat good things about ourselves to ourselves, the more likely we will be to actually believe ourself and incorporate the positive feelings that go along with ours. With regard to shy people, peers can help them to use positive self‑talk in daily life aimed at convincing themselves that they are not shy. For example, when a shy people gets up the courage to ask a friend, he or she can say to himself something like, "I'm not shy. I can talk to people and make friends." Therefore, later, maybe the feeling of shyness will disappeared. Shy people often believe that there is nothing they can do about their shyness because they think that it is a part of their personalities that will not change. But, it’s totally wrong and this is not true. You still have time, ways and opportunities to change it for your own sake in the future as to be a good teacher or counselor. Tq.

salam...

Thank you Sister Nor Hasrina for your comment

Yes,I can accept that women are naturally shy.For your information, besides enter to the Education's club (BEDSA) I also already enter one of the society club in this IIUM which is BP IIUM GEMILANG(Mentor-mentee programmes in school). In there,I have tried to find new people and try to built relationship with students from different gender and different kulliyah.I am still learning how to eliminate my weakness and my aims is I want to totally solve my problem within 2 years before I graduated form this IIUM,InsyaAllah. Please pray for me...wassalam.

Thanks sis Aisyah...

Tq for ur comment on Hand to Mouth life's post. yes, hopefully we are not in that type of people. to be moderate in having life in this world is very important that make us always remember about the here after life.Hope we always in His Bless.InsyaAllah.

Teacher

I really interested with nelly's post about her cousin. That's we call fate. Sometimes we are not so lucky and got the job that we are desired. But I believe it must has the cause, why God make her fate like that. In this case, it is so pain to do thing or job that we are not pleasent. To be a good teacher the most important thing is honest to teach and guide the students. If we be a teacher only because of payment, because of no choice like nelly's cousin, this will contribute to producing bad quality of teacher. This kind of teacher will not aware about their main role as good model to the students. They will neglect their student. For me maybe nelly's cousin need to try to change her unpleasant feeling to children and the job. She must believe that everything on this world happen with the causes. But if she really cannot change herself or feel pleasent with the job maybe she should change her job. This action may give good effect to students and herself. It's just comment from me...:)

Salam everyone!!!

On what we have learnt today.According to super's theory,I think I choose my career based on my self-concept.I need to analyze myself first.I need to think about all the consideration in my abilities, values, interest and personality before I choose my career.Talk about values,my values are first for satisfaction, then for spending time with my family, next to have freedom.

refer to noraini post

the things that u get from the newspaper sometimes is the necessity of the requirement for certain job, maybe they need trained worker that can handle the job properly and dont need alot of time to learn and been teach by the company. However if the fresh graduates can proof the employee that they can give full cooperation and willing to learn from the mistakes i think there will be no problem. Nowadays employee are not choosy anymore because they look more to their talents and skills rather than the good cgpa, but it doesnt mean that cgpa is not important but it react as the bonus for the individual to be selected. So, before enter the real world of work, we as a future worker must prepare ourselves in terms of communication, skills, and any interpersonal skills that we need to use during our work life so that we will always be confidents and be selected. I dont know wheather i answer ur questions but i hope so..hehe..see ya

Super's Theory

According to Super's Theory, the people must know who they are in order to choose the career that suit to them. Nowadays, there are many people who are not know themselves. That is why they just jump in any workplace with the hope that they can suit with that work and manage themselves with the enviroment later on. This is what happened to my cousin. She has the degree from UKM that eligible her to be the DIPLOMATIC OFFICER after graduate. I know that she really love that job since she likes to work in the office. However, what happened to her is, she failed to work as her desire job before this. That is why, she takes the KPLI and become the English teacher at primary school in KK. The environment that she has to undergo now is totally diferent with her personality where I noticed that she's not really like to mix with the children. I also know that she's suffer a lot of be a teacher. I really want to know, is there any solutions or tips if suddenly we realize that our job is not compatible with ourselves (interest and so on) ? I mean, on how we should face it so that, we confident and brave to make the adjustment with it. TQ

Sis noraini, i'm agree with you

Salam sis. Actually, our view on this situation is same. It is true that, if the employer only looks for the employee who already has at least 5 years experience of work, how about the freshgraduate who has no experience at all? It seems like not fair, isn't? But, for me, in order to be not stress on this situation is, taking this situation as a challenge. We can convince the employer that we also can learn the certain skills and be better than the experienced employee. So, the employer must open and give opportunity to the freshgraduate as well. The employer can observe the freshgraduate performance for a certain period. If their contribution can give the positive result on the company, why don't the employer treats them as same as the experienced employee?

"Hand -to-Mouth" life. Car or House?

Salam to everyone...
Hand to Mouth life means earning and consuming the salary without any leave for saving. when we discuss about it in cluz today, it remind me automatically about the reality life of workplace that i had last time. in workplace, there are two type of workers which are support staffs (who low salary paid) and profesional staffs(high salary paid.. atually both are having the the same life. Hand to Mouth life...yup, money is never enough even our salary paid is rm10,000 per month! You know why, for instance, while a person are hired as a junior accountant, he maybe own the MyV Produa car that suit with his/ her salary on that time...but after 3 years, when s/he become senior accountant and the salary is highly paid, then the MyV Produa change to Honda Jazz or so on even the MyV is good enough :-)... this is mean, human being alwayz consume more when the money is more that usual because interest of branding life and so on. For me, that why the hand-to-mouth life happen. I also agree that majority of employees in Malaysia doing the part -time jobs like being multilevel agent products because of need to pay the extra luxury items that they have like branded accessories, buying import cars and house at the same time then coz out of budget and then there are no money leave for saving.

My friend told me that the Chinese have different approach when they are started work after graduate or end secondary school. they always buy the profitable things that can be as investment. they prefer to buy houses rather than car as first asset. you know why, this is because the price of house will increase compare to the car price which decrease day per day. for me, to avoiding the hand-to mouth life is depend on our financial management and our thought about our needs and awareness to calculate money first before buying.:-)What the most important is SAVING because our saving is our invisible umbrella for our future life.
So what you will buy first? Car or house as your first asset?TQ

salam siti,my comment on your cousin's problem

My reflection on your cousin’s experience, it is important for us to make a wise decision in choosing our specialization to further our study and we should not take it as granted. On our last class, we already learnt about “CAREER CHOICE IS A SINGLE POINT IN TIME EVENT”. Naturally every person wants to achieve success in his or her life. ‘Success’ has different meanings to different people. Some define ‘success’ as being rich. There are some people who refer to success based on how high up they are in the social ladder. Some others refer to success to the ability to balance life between the Present and the Hereafter. Also some define that ‘success’ is when we achieve our dream career. Whatever the definition, everybody agrees that success can only be achieved by making the right CHOICES. Why leave your life to chance and probabilities when you can always do something about it?. So CHOOSE! Make your CHOICE!TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE!!! *THE DECISIONS I MAKE TODAY CREATES MY DESTINY*

Salam.Please help me...

Regarding to what we have discussed in last class, Dr Siraje said that yes, we are change but our personality will remain the same. Emmm, I agreed with him after he gave example in our class about himself. He said he is shy person and everything is changes until now but he still feel that there are something in himself that remain the same although he don’t know what. I also want to relate my personal experience with all my friends. Actually I also a extremely shy girl. When I was in primary school, I don’t be friend with my male classmates. For your information, there are only 14 students in my class and consist of 10 boys and 4 girls. I do speak with them, but rarely because of shy. Even when my teacher wants all students submit our homework in front of class, I couldn’t do it .I felt shy to walk in front the class. I still remember when my teacher wanted us to memorize a very simple English song and sang on the stage in front of my classmate and 3 of my teachers. Yes, I could memorize the song, but when the time which was my turn to deliver my song, I couldn’t open my mouth. My mouth seems like locked off. Then my friend ceasing on me. I felt so sad at that time. After a few weeks, my Malay Language teacher asked us to give a speech on the stage in front of all students from standard one to standard six. That was speech competition and all standard six students are compulsory to enter the competition. Then I memorize my speech’s text. The title of my speech was “The benefit of reading”. You all know, what make me shocked and realized at that time when one of my classmate said that she already knew that I will not deliver my speech and I will be the loser in the competition. After heard all she said, I promise to myself that I could deliver my speech on the day of competition. When was my turn to give my speech, I go to the stage. Although it was hard to do, I have tried my best. Then I delivered my speech with appropriate body language. At that time, I could see all my teachers and my friends were so shocked!!!. I also didn’t belief that I could open my mouth and delivered my speech until the end. When my teacher announce the 1st ,2nd and 3rd winners, once again I couldn’t believe that I not got 3rd or 2nd place, but I got the 1st place!!!, Alhamdulillah. When my friends asked the teacher why I got the 1st place, then my teacher easily replied that I deserved to get it. At that time, I realize that I have my strength but I didn’t realize it. Then I keep changing myself until now and even though I feel that I am changing but I can feel that I’m still myself before. I could enter in many competitions in my secondary school, even I didn’t win in all competition, but I felt satisfied because I already challenged myself. The problem now is even I can speak in front of class, but I still feel shy to male students. I’m wondering myself how I could become a good counselor if I couldn’t eliminate my weakness(shy towards men).Yes, I have some male friends who are closed to me…and I can interact with them without shy. But if I want to create a new friendship relationship with new people who are men, it is hard to me. Actually, I am a friendly person. I can be friend to new person easily but only for female. So, WHO CAN HELP ME TO SETTLE MY PROBLEM?. Please give suggestion to me about how to overcome my problem???.

experiences...ermmm

from what i've read last week in the star job newspaper all the requirement in order to be hired every job we must have at least 5 years experiences in the field of that job. so here, for us, as a fresh graduates it is seems quite difficult to us to strive in order to get that place. obviously, we are fresh graduate so how come we have that experiences without facing it first even we know how to do that job. so, here at least we are given an opportunity from the employer to show our talent first then from that we will get an experiences. that is because if all the employer needs an experiences people at first so how about the fresh graduate???? and of course because of that it is contribute to the jobless among the freshgraduate...am rite?? i need all of you guys to give me a reflection towards this requirement.....=)

::My childish Interest::

I really like our topic today where under the topic CAREER MATURITY, we discuss and share a little bit about childish interest. Talking about it, I remember my childhood fantasy about career-what I want to be on the future. During my primary school, I realize that my career choice will change for every year. When I'm in the standard 1, I want to be a nurse because I really like the uniform that they wear. Moreover, my auntie who is the nurse always tell me that if I want to be a nurse like her, I must be caring to others and talk softly towards others. It is because; my behavior at that time is more like a boy since I’m influenced by my brother. Furthermore, my ambition changed when I’m in the standard 4 where I want to be a doctor and teacher at the same time on the future. However, when I study at the secondary school, I realized that my past dream was illogical and I started fall in love with the ACCOUNTING and I want to be an accountant! (^_^). What I can say here, my childish fantasy had moulded my personality to act like a ladies and it still remained until now. When I learn this subject, I understand that our interest and personality will influence our career choices.
Moreover, I really agree on Super’s Theory. We can change our job until we find it suit to our interest. InsyAllah, if I’m given the opportunity to life long, I want to try all of the jobs that compatible with my interest.

personality and career choice

hi..salam..see you guys again..today i would like to discuss and give my opinion about our lecture today..due to holland trait-and-factor its state that personality is not change for every person, but in my opinion i think personality will change due to the experiences that we gain throughout life and knowledge that we learn and applied on our daily life, both of this factor contribute to the changes in our personality. for instance, our maturity of thinking and making decision is develop through leaning and experiences that we faced. apart of this thing, i also not denied that sometimes we will feels that there are something that remain the same in ourself, it is very complicated to understand because sometimes we cannot know what is it that remain the same in ourself maybe our self-concept is stay the same or maybe not it is depends on individuals. Next, i want to relate the personality that we have that influence our career choice. For examples, someone that have so much interest in investigate and science subject will normally choose to be a scientice or work that rlatd to investigating such as the forensic analysis or etc, indviduals will choose their career based on their interest, ability and and what is suitable with their attitudes and personality. I think all this is make sense for me..so come and lets think about it...tq

www.studymalaysia.com

salam to Dr.Siraje and to all of my friends,
how are you?
i already visited this website,www.studymalaysia.com yesterday since Dr.Siraje recommended it for us. From what i found, the website is very good.it's really beneficial because we can get a lot of information there about the chances to further study in malaysia, whether we want to choose public or private university.the most interesting part is the website provide information about ''where to study & what to study",because it can help us to understand very well about any field of job that we dream of.i'm also interested in the ''student's hotspot" column because it consists of useful tips to motivate us in daily life being a student in the university.i believe you guys also enjoy it! moreover,we also get chance to sign up as a members and we can join the study forum.i already become one of the members so to all my friends, lets join it together.. =)

this website is very important especially after we graduate from the university and become counselor in the school because it help much in guide the students regarding their career decision.
that's all from me,
thank you. =)

Super Points is Better

Like sis fatimah, i also agree that Super theory is better because for me this theory emphasize on self-concept and development. we all know that human being is always in process of development from day to day. for example we develop our knowledge about world broader and deeper from different stage of our ages. that also happen in our career. our skills and experiences for 1st year being as counselor is not same with the skills and experiences that we have 5 years after that and for sure we develop ourselves by that time. the point of this self-conception theory are the we develop more clearly and define our self-concepts as we grow older, we also develop the images of occupational world and trying to make career decision and lastly is the career decision is based on the similarity between our self-concept and the vocational concept of the career that suit with us. so, what your opinion?

Super Theory

I agree with assumption of Super's Theory that people differ in their abilities, personalities, needs, value, interests, traits and self concepts. Because of that there are so many kind of work on this world. For example businessman, engineer, lawyer, coach, lecturer and many more. All this profession have different abilities, personalities, needs, value, interests, traits and self concepts. People choose work that match with their personalities and abilities. For example one that like about engine will choose job that require him to involve with engine such as engineer. But sometimes if one have the interest in one job but he not have abilities for that job so he cannot choose the job as their profession. Instead, he can do job that nearly similar to that job. For example if a woman have an interest to be a contractor but she do not have the abilities because of her health problem so she can choose to be a lecturer and teach about construction. Am I right?

Career vs Personality

Salam everyone!!

Hi… I like to share about our previous lesson whereby I agree that certain job need to fit with the individual personality or character. It is because, in order to get job satisfaction, we should know what is suit and not with ourself. People often make their career choice based on location or income without giving any thought to how their job will fit long- term with their personality type. They just think as long they have a job plus with high salary, they can accept any jobs although they are not interested and actually are not fit with their personality. They maybe think that, in this challenging world, they should not become a choosy person because they might be unemployed if they react like that. But, if that’s the route that individual took, they’re probably feeling like their job is more obligatory than satisfactory.

For me, I like to be a teacher and I think I have the personality and character that every teacher should have. Actually we can know whether that job is suit with us or not or whether we are interested or not in doing our job. We can find it by doing a Career Test. From the Holland Personality Type, a teacher should have social, enterprising and artistic personality type in order to be outstanding and being a good teacher. Social personality type is particularly value people who are helpful, friendly and trustworthy therefore the person is who are good at teaching, counseling, nursing, giving information and solving social problems. And a teacher also should have enterprising personality in order to offer the opportunity for independence and leadership and often allow for increased earnings and lastly a teacher also should be in artistic type whereby they should creative and sometimes unconventional.

The fact is, the studies has already indicates that a match between job and personality play an important part in job satisfaction and success. When choosing a career based on individual personality type, they will be able to guide their future career along a most rewarding path. Therefore they will enjoy doing job in whatever they prefer to because it is a satisfactory more than obligatory. So, are you all agree with me?

More IPT graduates getting unemployed..

Hi… this is the 1st time I write in this blog. I just want to highlight and discuss with you all about an increasing of unemployment rate among the graduates in Malaysia although it had been highlight in our previous class... Because for me, it seems like a worrying trend and as a higher learning education students, we need to know about this facts.

For many years, the issue cropped up again and again, made the news headlines, and even hit the parliament. It have no longer when a degree scroll can become your automatic passport to employment because for me, i think nowadays, people with higher education is no longer a symbol of career success and the scroll not promise us to get a better job referring to our qualification. This may sound painful for graduates but let’s face it.

I have read an article from one of the IPT student who gives a comment in the internet whereby he found that, in July 2007, The Sun newspaper reported that the unemployment rate of public universities has reached a staggering 70%, whereas the private institutions recorded 26% and foreign graduates 34%. Out of the 70%, the highest unemployment was contributed by the following statistics:

  • Universiti Teknologi MARA, UiTM – 3,278 (16.2%)

  • Universiti Utara Malaysia, UUM – 1,532 (7.6%)

  • Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, UTM – 1,147 (5.7%)

  • Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM – 971 (4.8%)

  • Universiti Putra Malaysia, UPM – 919 (4.5%)

And a survey has conducted also indicated that many of unemployed local graduates are from computer science and information technology degree holders. However, as we hearing in the newspaper and media each day, this field are still lacking of an IT expert and IT programmer. Is the job market getting more competitive, or it is the job seekers and graduates are actually unmarketable these days? Or is it, our local education have failed to offer a sufficient quality education to produce the necessary quality in the workforce which the industry required? Can we blame it entirely on education?

salam my dear friends..

I just one to share with you all about my experience regarding the example of people choosing a wrong career..I have cousin that work as counselor. Before he became a counselor,he is the normal teacher that teach science and mathematics subject. When he got offered to continue his studies in counseling field, he accept the offers because he thinks about the salary and for his,be a counselor is easy task compared with teaching the students. After he became a counselor, he realize that be a counselor is very difficult because it is more in psychology and understand the feelings of human. If he do counseling section,he felt very stress and he felt that he are forced to do that. Also, he did not practise the manner that counselor should obey for instance when he do counseling section,he not listening carefully and if the students share about love,he become angry and dispute the students. Also, thinks that make her become more stress, students in his school did not respect her as a counselor because his children also one of the students in that school that involved in social problems. Now, he felt very regrat and he said to me that he want to resign from be a counselor. It shows that,if we not choose a job that make us satisfied,it can create a lot of problems in the future. So, I hope that all my friendz, willingly to be a counselor not by forced...w'salam

What Your Dream?

"Did you have write down or figure out what your vision in your career development as counselor for the next 10 years and so on?". Some of us may be want to furthering study until Ph.D level, some maybe dream for be Head of counselor with grade "DG44" in school and the salary will increase. Whatever our dreams are, we need to write it down or scatch it and put in the place that we can see everyday (on the desk etc). The purpose is to make sure we remind ourself and get us always in focus mode that we have target that we need to achieve. "The things that you do today, determine what you will be in the future"..

am i still working if i have much much money?

off course i will still working. for me, working is the best way to sosialize and fulfill our day.
the work that i will do besides couseling is tailoring...this is one of my hobby and i like the most... i will enjoying my day by doing this rather than i waste my time doing something meaningless such as sleeping all day.. hehehe..
let me ask you all some question..
# what kind of life you will had if youre not working?
#dont you feel boring doing nothing all day long?
# dont you feel your life is meaningless if you had a lot of money but you do
nothing?

for me, my life will be really boring and meaningless. EMPTY.
why not use your money and contribute something to society and yourself.
ok.. wassalam... "(-_-)"

(~,-)
besides, we didnt know until when we will b in dis world.. s0 can u imagine life without doing nothing? its quiet bored maybe! huhu. at least by working, u still can gain kn0wledge, get extra experiences, have a lot of friends, spreading knowledge n enjoy ur life. but thats happen if u are really want 2 do dat.. if not, u juz burdening urself.. ab0ut d characteristics dat we need 2 have in ourselves 2 b a c0unsel0r..
yup, 1st thing dat we need 2 b a c0unselor is s0cial. dat is because we will inv0lve with a lot of people ar0und us.. ;)
i juz w0uld like 2 give my opinion about d sister in fr0nt me in d cluz ( her name is 'nadiah' if not mistaken..).
about d test of pers0nality dat she d0ne, n there is n0 "S" in front of her result n she w0rried either n0w she is in d rite path or not. 4 me, dat is okie.. coz maybe at dat time (doing d test) u are not yet in d field of c0unseling, s0 u didnt have any interest 2 involve with others. maybe, by d time u finish ur study dat attitude will change. h0pefully ar.. =)
2ndly, yeah.. im really agree with each people have their own interest or specific type of work. people are best fitted 4 a specific work. it maybe influences by our environment; family, friends n etc. when we comes to d job dat are fitted 4 us, we will enjoy with our job rite? dat also because; people are born not d same in terms of their ability such as s0me people are b0rn as intelligent brain, some of them are born with the well physical fitness n etc. try to imagine h0w c0me if we ask d football player 2 be a doctor? or else, a doctor bcome a football player. huh.. i cant imagine dat. hehehe. they are maybe manage to do both, but it quiet difficult.

if I have enough money

I will bring my parents to go all around the world because it is their dreams. Then after I already satisfy my parents' heart,I will work as teacher because I can feel my soul in that profession.

If I have More Than Enough Money

i'm interested to talk about previous class. For me if I have more than enough money, I still want to work as a teacher. Because I really love teaching. Work is not only to get money but it also to give contribution to other people. I believe my life is nothing if I can not do what I like and satisfied me. By work as a teacher I can get satisfaction in my life. Other than that I also can give service and knowledge to my student.

addition for sis zaitun..... =)

eton,
i want to share with you, actually your sister intention to be a teacher is really good and we are really welcome her to this profession. but, for me she did not doing the wrong decision studying in economics she actually can take an oppurtunity to further her study and doing KPLI like what government have given a chance to the fresh graduate that is because for how long she will be a "guru ganti" and does not have a secure job. i think, she have to think and take an action faster that is because if you delay it the competition nowadays really challenges and you will get less oppurtunity in order to get a place... =)

Both is Great!

salam..... I agree with fadhilah.... Wherever you are and whatever you do, the same goal is to seek knowledge!!! =)

work or not to work????

salam to all.... Its great to have 12,000 each month without working for the rest of my life.... If such thing happen to me, i'l rather stay at home doing house work and focus on my family. Well Siti Nurbaya, we have in common ;)..... Actually teaching is my ambition since i was 9...so, i wouldn't mind if i work and become a hobby to teach at school.

matriculation or stpm

This issue might be a normal thing for all SPM leavers who will be in dilemma situation whether to further their study in matriculation or STPM. For me, both have their own advantages and disadvantages. However, both are still in the same objective of seeking a knowledge. I still remember the time I was the SPM student, my aim is I want to get the good results for my SPM and I want to go to matriculation. The reason why I choose matric is because I dont want to wear a school uniform anymore. It sounds weird but it does not means that I dont want to go to school. I just cannot wait to experienced the university environment. Alhamdulillah, luckily, I got an offered to further my study at CENFOS IIUM and Matriculation Labuan.
I choose to enter CENFOS IIUM after analyze all the advantages and got some advised from my family. Alhamdulillah, I enjoyed my study here and I can see who am I in the next ten years. In short, matric is just like a short cut to enter university. However, if we can see, mostly STPM students will study hard because they know thay have to get the best result to enter university because they will compete with other matric"s students who are guarantee to enter uni. Some people also make a stereotype towards STPM students because mostly the students who get less A's in SPM will further their study in STPM...some might think they are not good enough. I am disagree with this statement since mostly in my school, the Form 6 students are Chinese who are not given an opportunity to entered IPTA although they get the best result. We sholud not look down at those STPM students because their examinations were more though and difficult than in the matric. That is only my own view and i'm sorry if some of you might disagree with me. The most important thing is, no matter wherever and whatever we are studying, all of us are doing the right thing with the same aim: seeking a knowledge.

If I have enough money...

If I have enough money I don't think I want to work.Thats true, like ekin said we are work not only to get money, but to get satisfaction also. For me, if I have enough money, I want to stay at home and concentrate to my family.I want to make them happy especially my parents....

on today class..

Salam..

On today class, we have discuss about the Dr Siraje's question; if you already have enough money (RM1xxx,xxx), do you want to proceed your career or just resign? For me, I agreed with the Sis Noraini and Sis Fatimah and I want to add something....There are many people in this world with the different goals in their life where their ultimate is just to earn money in order to support and improve their lifestyle-their position in society as well without having the interest in their career. It is very rare to hear about this but it is true. That is why, the roles of counselors are so important in guiding the clients(students) to choose their career. The counselors must make the clients realize that; in choosing the career, they must consider about their interest as well and not only taking the amount of salary into consideration. Just take the example from our society;nowadays, there are many jobless graduated students take KPLI. They do that as the last choice since they need to work in order to pay their loan. At the end, they find that they are being 'trapped' where suddenly they realize that they're not interested in teaching. In this situation, for sure the bad impact will go to the students. Don't you think so?

today's class reflection

salam...i do agree with sis fatimah althought i have a lots of money and that is more than enough for the rest of my life i will doing my work as usual that is because like what sister ekin have said working is not only for earn money but also to get satisfaction and to make our life more meaningful. that is because with having a job we can update our knowledge about the things goes around our world. in addition, if we doing things that we like most of course we will living in happiness and no worries although sometimes in workplace have some pleasure but if we do it because of we love it it is nothing to us to face it.

Comment from Sis. Siti Fatimah

I'm interested to talk about today's class. For me if I have money more than enough, I still want to work as a teacher. Because I really love teaching. Work is not only to get money but it also to give contribution to other people. I believe my life is nothing if I can not do what I like and satisfied me. By work as a teacher I can get satisfaction in my life. Other than that I also can give service and knowledge to my student.

I agree!!!! but............

Yes, i agree with nelly especially about engineers contribute a lot in the country... but...... i think the employer is too choosy on their employee, because most of the jobs need atleast 2-5 years of experience. Maybe this is the cause of jobless graduates. I guess we should look on the employer issues about too choosy on their employee. Anybody agree?.....

::I'm answering::

Salam.Regarding to Siti aisyah's question;"Why most of job vacancies in STAR newspaper always wanted people who are engineer"? The ultimate reason is, the job market. Let's take the Malaysia for example;as a develop country, of course the roles of the engineer are important especially in producing the idea that can give benefit to the country. There are; aerospace engineer, biomedical engineer, civil engineer etc..Last words, engineers contribute a lot to the every country.

answer for aisyah's questions..

salam my beloved friendz..In my opinion, why most of job vacancies in STAR newspaper always wanted people who are engineer because as we know, our country is a developmental and industrilization country. The impact is they need a lot engineer to develop the country such as operate the machines and so on.

what do you understand by the word"career development"

when we talk about career development, someone might think about how to develop our career achievement.another person might says that, it is concerning about how to make us be prepared with the challenges in the work place as well as the competition in the market.some people argued that, why we should study "career development", as long as we perform better in academic performance then it is ok, you will hire a good job for a better salary.

hi....assalamualaikum to dr siraje and you all guyz....

this is my first time viewing this blog.it suppossed to have fun using this kind of learning methodology because everybody can voice out their opinion ang share it with everybody. therefore indirectly it can acknowledge us and broad up our mind as well as our thinking.i know, i'm not that kind of paying attention during the classess, so i hope this kind of things will help me in study, same goes to you guyz....hmmm... i hope we'll enjoy it.bye

First Post

Assalammualaikum..
This is my first time send a post to this blog..
If there any mistake please correct me..
During our prevoius class, our lecturer had mention about
"Do what you love and you will not have to work for the rest of your life"
In my opinon,if we love or like job that we do,we will not think about it as a work or something like forcement. We will enjoy doing it like we doing something during our leisure time.It will be more fun and will not stressfull. If we done something that we love,we will enjoy doing it everyday and doesn't mind to do it the rest of our life.We doesn't think it like a burden for us.So start from now,we should love our work or our career in the future.
What your opinion about it??

wa'alaikum slm my friend,zaitun.

Thanks 4 sharing your sister's experience. In my opinion,I think that is the reason why we as the future counselors need to study CAREER DEVELOPMENT subject to make sure problem regarding career will not exist among our students in the future. One question from me is,was your sister got help from anybody before she decided to further her study in economics in the university?.If no,it was counselor's fault because the counselor did not provide any career information to students and I think the counselor is not a good counselor because the counselor already ruin your sister's life. The counselor should know your sister interest and aptitude and make she realize in what area she want to specialize in the university. Can I give suggestion to your sister?.If can,I suggest her to apply teachers'programme under Education Minister because I can see your sister are very interested to become a teacher and for sure she has talent to teach.Am I right?.For your information,luckily...accounting or economy and math are the most marketable courses in education.I have read recently that math teacher are critical course and always welcome to join to become a teacher. Also, the salary are also high...I heard the starting salary is from number 4000++.So,tell her about this good news!.Wassalam.

salam...noraini here =)

::REFLECTION::

Salam to everyone..

Regarding to Raffeza Sanadi's question, I want to give my opinion based on my experience as a student, who has the 'great' opportunity to study at the school which is situated in the rural area.. Actually, the situation was not very bad where all primary and secondary school were equipped with the facilities including the internet access during I study there and nowadays, the situation might be better than what I have undergo before. Meaning that, there supposed no problem when it comes to seek a lot of information about CARRER. But, the real problem of rural area students which is the great barriers for us to move on is, the mentality and perception of the people around us-teachers,counselor,etc..

Although the internet access was there, we are not allowed to use it because they said, once we surfing the internet meaning that we wasting the time to entertainment-It shows the limitation in their mind!! It is because they might think that the scope of seeking knowledge is within the classroom only. In addition, may be that was one of the way for them in order to save the teenagers from being expose and influence to the bad thing. But, for me, that way is ABSOLUTELY WRONG..

As I mentioned before, although my school has the counseling unit but, it works more at advising the students who involved in the discipline problem. I only go there once in my lifetime to asking the advantage of form six and because of that counselor is like not interested to give the information, I make the decision to further the study in IIUM Matriculation Centre (currently known as CENFOS).Alhamdulillah, I took the right decision although the decision that I make is like the 'blind people without the stick' and I only refer to the internet.

That is why most of us at that time had the initiative to go to the cc (cyber cafe) in order to surf the internet if we want to get the information about the career. Not only that,my family provide the internet acces in my home (I owe a lot to my family) and it takes time to get the internet access through the phone line..Don't we realize that, just because of the perception of the other people, it can give the huge and bad impact to the rest? Pointing finger to the one side is not fair but, in this situation if the administrator of the school is not play the role,of course the function of the school as a agent of distributing the knowledge and skills is not works.-Thank you for reading my opinion & experience! (^_^)

salam to everyone..... =)

Hello everybody.....
how are you?may allah bless you and give u good health... =)
welcome to this blog and i hope we can share anything here that will benefit each other,insyaallah...
this is such a very interesting activity as Dr.Siraje said in the previous class,we do not have enough time to discuss every single thing in the class...
so this blog is really beneficial for us in order to make us a knowledge explorer! =)
in the previous class,i want to reflect about the 'trapped' isssue...
i want to relate this thing into school setting like what dr.siraje said, there are so many teacher nowadays who are 'forcing' themselves to be in the wrong track.they are taking other courses, they are not interested in teaching at all, they dream about another profession, but in the end they have no choice because of the job market that make them difficult to get a job after graduated from the university,so this situation make them choose the teaching profession as the last choice and then they decide to take KPLI in order for them to be a teacher.they are seem like taking a high risk to do something that they do not love at all and this is very bad because it can give bad effect to the teacher and as well the students such as stress and depression for the teacher and the students will not have interest in learning and maybe they have some difficulties in the process of learning..
from my past experiences in secondary school,my counselor was not really emphasized on the importance of career development on the students.the students are not really aware about their tendency on which field they should be and its really confusing.i believe that counselor should make effort in order to give SDS test to the students since they were in form1 so they will know better about their tendency on which career because this test is really beneficial to inform us whether we are in the field of social, realistic, artistic, conventional, enterpreneur and so on.
i want to leave a question here, what is your opinion about the school in the rural area, dont u think that they have high possibility on difficulties in order to get career information very well because of the facilities of accessing to the internet?they also have good potential student but isn't this thing make them lagging behind?
that's all,wassalam... =)

assalamualaikum to everyone..

Nice to meet you all again(-_^)...hem,for career development subject for sure that you all must have many opinion, experiences and questions regarding this subject. In this blog, we can share anything.I hope that we can share any opinion from you all.As a good counselor, we have to know abour career development. It is very useful to our students and it is also important to us as a counselor to have basic ideas about the career development nowadays.I have one question to you all......Nowadays we can see in job market,if the employer wants to hired employee the major things that they see is skills such as communication skill, leadership skill and many more. They do not really look at the cgpa..eventhough the students have good cgpa the employer looks more at skills rather than achievement in study. My dear friends,I want to tell you that nowadays employer do not look much on experience, but what they need is their employee must have soft skills .I read it in newspaper recently...They encourage fresh graduate to apply the job.So, we cannot blame the employer because not hired the fresh graduate. In my opinion who have to be blame for many fresh graduate are jobless is GOVERNMENT.Why I said like that?It is because they are really emphasize on exam oriented and not really stress on practical.
