In my opinion, career development is quite important for secondary school students because it is to determine the student self-assessment by identifying skills, interests and their own values. Besides that, the goal of career development in secondary schools is to help students make an exploration of the learning in different career & educational options. When the students have the information on the educational options that they have, it going to be easy for the students makes a decision in choosing a major area or major concentration in their study. When they have the main target, they will implement goals by actively taking classes in their main field and making preparations for their future undertaking. Students along with school counselors can design major concentrations to best suit the interests, skills and abilities of the students by having career and personalities test in schools. Students also are encouraged to carefully review each major field area before deciding on an area of concentration. In order to be adequately prepared for life after secondary school, they must be educated to the availability and expectations of a global society in World of Work. Whether a student plans to pursue higher education or immediately enter the work force, a career plan of action guide by school counselor is essential. That’s the roles of schools counselor whereby to provide students with proper guidance, resources and information necessary to execute such a plan to the secondary students so that they will be in a right path in their career in the future. Hopefully, we will succeed in giving proper guidance and leading our future student to a rite career path for them so that they will not being misplaced in a field that are not suitable for them, insyaallah...
