Islamic view about career

I just want to relate something we have learned about career with Islam.

The idea comes into my mind after I read about it from the book I have bought entitled ‘Perkembangan Kerjaya’(teori &Praktis) written by Prof. Sidek Mohd Noah.

In Islam, career is one of the most important things in the life. Without the perfect root of career, the man will not get the balance of physical and emotion. The mental and emotion will corrupted if the uncomfortable condition happens in each person’s life. Even Allah commands us to work hard in this world.

Islam asked the ummah to work to eradicate the poverty. Besides that, the work must accordingly with the rule of Islam to get the blessing from Allah.

The role of career in Islam

1. 1. To fulfill the needs of the individual in life in moderation. It is a part of the Muslim obligation to fulfill the basic needs such as foods, shelter and clothes.

2. 2. Being responsible for the family.

3. 3. To fulfill the individual goal and desires.

Islam states two basic elements that the Muslim must have in doing a work. These two elements were very important as a guidance for the Muslim to do a work effectively accordance with syariah.

The elements are the best spirituality and knowledge, skills and experiences. One must have a good intention, being very patient and work hard, consistency and submission to Allah.

Every work needs a knowledge that related with it. Furthermore, a skill in each work also is very important to make it easier. Any work that was done by do it again and again in a long period time will make the person become more effective worker and increased the quality of work.
