Differences Goals of Career Development Towards Differences Level of Students

Salam,
From what we have learned in our previous class, i would like to give my opinion on this issues. in my opinion, i think there are differences in goals of career development towards differences level of study such as between secondary school level and university level. for me, i think, in secondary schools, teacher or school counselor more focusing on giving an information on career field and what type of career that are available in this world. besides that, they will assist students to have a look on what field are available and try to guide them to make decision based on their interest and capabilities. In school, school counselor use variety of career test in order to identify on the student's interest. Based on that result test, the school counselor will explore the result together with the student and guide them to make a better decision. other than that, secondary school students also always feel confused in choosing on what they want to study. for example, when they entering Form 4, they will be streaming into variety of field for example sciences, account, art and technical. therefore, it is the duty of school counselor to give the information on that subjects, shows them the opportunities that they have in that field, matching the career with their interest and capabilities and assists them in making decision for their future undertaking.
it quite differs when it comes to university level. when student entering university, they are quite mature enouqh, they know what they have decide for their future. For example, at university level, when the student study education(Guidance & Counseling), they know what they are going to be in the future which is schools counselor or if they study accounts, they know they will working in accounting sectors. therefore, here the duty of counselor is to guide and polish their skill and give some exposure on World of Work that they will entered after finishing their studies. but for certain conditions whereby there are students who are entering university, study the subjects which are not their interest. this occured because they didn't have proper guidance from school counselor at secondary school or they have been forced by their family to further in that field which they aren't interested at all. for this group of students, counselors should play important roles by giving guidance starting from the beginning and at the same time assists them to built an interest towards on what they are studying now.
